A Letter from the Lebow Family

Dear Lebow Metals Customers,
November, 2003

We would like to update you on the status of Lebow Metals and our plans for the future. This past summer, I (Jeff) enjoyed getting lost all over New England as I tried to visit the dental offices on Benjie's old route. I was unable to make it to all of them, but it was truly a heartwarming experience to walk in my father's footsteps and see his wonderful life reflected in the warmth of the welcomes I received and the many recollections (usually told with a smile) that I heard. As an incoming precious scrap metal dealer, I thank you for the courtesy and loyalty you have extended to me, and as a son, I thank you for providing more assurance of what I already knew - that although Benjie's life was much too short, it was a very full one that touched so many other lives in a positive way.

To all those dental offices that I did not make it to, I'm very sorry. It's possible that your office was closed when I stopped by or that I got really lost that day or that I just ran out of time before I had to come back to Korea at the end of the summer. Huisun (my wife) and I will be moving back to New Hampshire this March and spending most of January there as well. I plan to stop by those offices I missed as early as possible in January or March. If you would like to make sure of a pickup or be sent mailers before then, please visit http://lebowmetals.com/mailers.htm to request one. You can also call 1-800-AMALGAM and leave a message requesting mailers or a pickup.

We have heard several reports that other dealers have stopped by offices and claimed to represent Lebow Metals. The only people who represent Lebow Metals are Benita, Elise, and Jeff. For the foreseeable future, Jeff will be the only person visiting offices and will have his green business card and plenty of two dollar bills to prove his authenticity.

Because of recent changes in the regulations involved with disposing of amalgam scrap, we will be making some changes to our amalgam collection policies. We will continue purchasing dry non-contact amalgam, but can no longer take contact amalgam or used traps. The next time Jeff stops by, he will provide your office with a Lebow Metals container for storing non-contact amalgam which we will continue to collect. In order to assist you with compliance regarding these other materials (contact amalgam and used traps) , we are currently referring customers to
Dental Recycling North America

We will be continuing to offer the Goldsmith and Revere's Ultra Dispersed Phase Alloy. We stock tablets and capsules, with zinc or non-zinc. Our price list remains the same and has not changed in almost six years. Our prices are below. You can order by emailing alloy@lebowmetals.com or by leaving a message at 1-800-AMALGAM

As Jeff made the rounds last summer, he often heard about wonderful memories of 'Benjie's Jewelry Box'. From 1996-2000, Lebow Metals sold gold jewelry by weight and as many recall, the quality and value of the necklaces, bracelets, rings, and earrings were exceptional. We are currently exploring the possibility of once again selling gold jewelry, in a more limited way. We are hoping to begin carrying a small line of jewelry by the fall of 2004. Also, for all those who shared Benjie's passion for collecting proof sets, state quarters and other specialized collectibles, we will continue carrying these and can deliver them during local pickups or by mail.

Finally, for all those who saw Benjie's photos and heard his stories about the unicycle program he and Benita had begun at Beech Street School, we just wanted to let you know that Benjie's legacy lives on. With funds from the Benjie Lebow Youth Foundation and a lot of commitment from Benita and her colleagues, the Beech Street Unicycle Team has continued to thrive. This group provides a unique opportunity for Beech Street's international student body. The smiling faces of these young unicycle riders are carrying on with a special skill that was Benjie's passion. These children have a certain pride and self confidence which will stay with them for a lifetime. In order to ensure that the program will continue to be adequately funded, our family has chosen to support Benjie's Youth Foundation by contributing a portion of the profits from Lebow Metals.

With great appreciation for your continuing loyalty,
The Lebow Family

Benita, Elise, & Jeff
